As part of their big summer transfer plans, Manchester United have earmarked potential moves for Southampton’s excellent duo Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana, reports the Express.
The English pair are enjoying a superb season with the Saints, and both have won England caps this term as a result.
Shaw is just 18-years-old, but is establishing a reputation as one of the most promising young left-backs in European football. He has a terrific engine, enabling him to get up and down the flank for the whole 90 minutes, and he also can provide an excellent delivery with his sweet left foot.
Lallana is more experienced than Shaw at 25-years-old, and captains the Southampton side. He is versatile, and can play in any one of the attacking midfield positions, or in a deeper, more traditional central midfield role.
Both would undoubtedly add something to a United squad that’s in desperate need of an overhaul, but according to the report, Southampton won’t consider selling both their prized assets for less than £40m. David Moyes wants to pay £30m, but with prices for English players typically inflated, and the lengthy deals the players are currently contracted to, Southampton are in a strong selling position.
What’s more, if the pair are selected for Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad, and perform well in Brazil, their potential transfer fees will rise even further.
