The 28-year-old didn’t make much of an impact during his time at Anfield, making just eight appearances for the club, but he has seen his career take off since making the move to Serie A and has even picked up a number of caps for the Italian national side in the process.
His form for the Tuscan side had attracted some interest from Manchester United earlier this season, though it now appears that they have turned their attention elsewhere leaving Arsenal with a clear path toward his signature as they look to make their own improvements at the back.
Thomas Vermaelen seems likely to leave in the summer after falling out of favour with Arsene Wenger, which would leave the Gunners short of backup options to Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.
However, it is unknown as to whether Paletta will actually want to make a return to the Premier League following his disappointing spell there, but he will remain a target for Arsenal nonetheless.
