Liverpool are preparing a surprise move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal according to Football Direct News.

Brendan Rodgers will look to bring in the Chilean playmaker and could feel more confident about securing such a deal now that his side are not only set for a return to the Champions League but are now also Premier League title contenders.

This source claims that the 26 year old is ready to leave Turin having impressed during his three season in Italy and with a third successive domestic title likely to be clinched in the coming weeks.

Vidal has proved a hugely effective performer under Antonio Conte and isn’t going to be a player the Italian boss would want to lose this summer.

Rodgers may well see the former Bayer Leverkusen man as a long term replacement for veteran skipper Steven Gerrard but one imagines a move for Vidal would have to set back a big fee, in excess of the club’s record £35m purchase of Andy Carroll.

Vidal has racked up 28 goals and 17 assists in 94 appearances in Serie A alone since moving to Juventus in July 2011.
