The Merseyside giants beat West Ham United 2-1 at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon to move back to the top of the Premier League with now just five matches of the season left to play, starting with Sunday’s massive showdown with third-placed Manchester City at Anfield.
However, the Northern Irishman insists that all the pressure will be on City next weekend: “The team we have put together, the mentality is to be fearless. It doesn’t matter who we play.
“We have to respect them as they have world class players but it’s about ourselves and the confidence we have to play and for the youngsters to enjoy it.
“There is no pressure on them. We’re enjoying it and enjoying the pressure there’s supposed to be.
“You saw against West Ham, there were no nerves and if we continue we’ll keep getting results.
“The pressure is on them because they’ve spent money.
“They’re a fantastic football club and they’ve invested to win the league and the Champions League.
“They’ll be looking to come to Anfield and get a result, but we’re just going to enjoy it. Hopefully we can keep fighting with them.”
