Bridges built between Old Trafford and Anfield after Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney emotionally remembers Liverpool fans lost at Hillsborough.
Today represents the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, where 96 football fans were killed in an unsafe stadium during Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest, resulting in a fight for justice and truth that is still ongoing to this day.
Manchester United centre forward Wayne Rooney might represent Liverpool’s old enemy, but grew up on Merseyside, and is doubtless well aware of how the catastrophe affected the city and its people.
The England star posted the below tweet to his 8.43 million followers on social network Twitter to express his sympathy to those who lost someone during the tragedy.
Thinking of the family and friends of the 96 this weekend #JFT96
