Torres spent 12 years with boyhood club Atletico before moving to England to join Liverpool in 2007.
After impressing at Anfield, the Spaniard has struggled since his British record £50m move to Chelsea and Simeone has suggested he would relish the chance to return to the Spanish capital.
“Fernando is always with us, obviously I have sent messages to him, he is very happy with everything that is happening to this team, he is always present, wishing us luck,” the Argentine is quoted as saying by the Telegraph.
“Of course he would love to come back to the club he grew up in and where he was very happy.”
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has dropped various thinly-veiled hints that he is unhappy with his strikers and it is expected that Torres, along with Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o, will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Inter Milan are also interested in the 30-year-old Spain international, who has scored just four league goals this season for the Blues.
