Old Trafford side ready big money offer for Nou Camp midfielder.
Man United are to re-ignite their in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas and are confident of landing the former Arsenal man after receiving encouraging feedback from the player’s representatives.
CaughtOffside understands that Old Trafford boss David Moyes has made the Spanish international his number one summer transfer priority.
Fabregas is said to be open to a possible move to Man United and will see how the rest of the current campaign shapes up before considering issuing a transfer request.
Moyes is keen to bring in a number of signings but sees the 26 year old as a ‘Marquee’ capture that would act as something of a statement of intent from a club that is in the midst of something of a period of transition.
Man United will hope to tempt Fabregas into returning to the Premier League with a £250k a week contract and the promise of a prominent role in the first team set-up.
Though Fabregas is a regular in Gerardo Martino’s first team set-up he is routinely benched for the club’s key fixtures.
Fabregas didn’t make Barcelona’s starting eleven for Champions League ties against AC Milan and was subbed in both El Clasico fixtures this term.
David Moyes is looking to further freshen up his midfield options having already brought in Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata, with varying degrees of success.
The likes of Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley, Michael Carrick, Shinji Kagawa and loaned out Brazilian Anderson are fighting of their respective Man United futures as Moyes prepares a major squad overhaul.
Moyes has been tracking Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos but sees Fabregas as his first choice target to fill a crucial role linking midfield and attack and will hope that the presence of his former Gunners team-mate Robin Van Persie could tempt the cultured World Cup winner into moving to Man United.
Prior to his return to the Nou Camp Fabregas amassed 303 appearances for Arsenal and has the level of Premier League experience that Moyes is willing to pay a club record fee to harness.
Clearly Man United’s offer will only be registered if Barcelona successfully appeal against the transfer ban handed to the La Liga side earlier this month.
