Football Direct News claim that St Mary’s boss Mauricio Pochettino will look to lure the 28 year old away from Anfield.
The former Newcastle United man has been out for most of the current campaign with a troublesome knee injury and Brendan Rodgers will have been very impressed by the form displayed by youngster John Flanagan, who has been converted from a right-back to fill the role with some aplomb.
Enrique may well find himself set for a Liverpool exit and a move to stay in the Premier League could tempt the talented Spaniard.
Southampton may struggle to keep hold of the nucleus of the side that has helped the club to an excellent campaign with the likes of Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw all likely to be of interest to prospective suitors.
Enrique moved to Liverpool in a £7m move in August 2011 and has made a total of 87 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
