The Red Devils are keen to quickly find a successor to current left-back Patrice Evra this summer as the Frenchman look set to end his eight year association with the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The club have drawn up a long list of potential replacements for Evra, and one of the names at the top of the list is Bernat’s, who has impressed for the La Liga side this season.

Bernat is making his 50th appearance of a long and gruelling season for Los Che in the Europa League semi-final and is hoping to be able to help his side overturn a 2-0 deficit inflicted by Sevilla in the first leg last month.

And it is widely believed that scouts from the Manchester side are in attendance at the Mestalla to check up on the performance of the 21-year-old as they continue to peruse potential new signings ahead of the transfer window.

While United have also been tracking other left-backs such as Southampton’s Luke Shaw, Bernat is an attractive option due to his price being significantly lower than the majority of other big-name candidates.
