The powerful Ivory Coast international has enjoyed his first season in the English top tier but could well be tempted by the chance to impress at a club who can offer him Champions League football though his Liberty Stadium employers may well attempt to repel advances for the former Vitesse Arnhem man.

Bony has grabbed an impressive 15 goals in 26 Premier League starts and a healthy total of 25 goals in all competitions, more than justifying Swansea City’s club record outlay of £12m, a fee Liverpool would presumably have to better in order to have any hope of signing the marksman.

Rodgers can probably afford to look for buyers for the likes of Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi who’s exits could help cover some of the cost of a challenging offer for Bony.

With Liverpool looking to challenge on multiple fronts there is certainly scope for adding a player of Bony’s undoubted quality, not least as Rodgers hasn’t got any real quality beyond his first choice pair and if one of his vaunted duo were to get injured then hopes of silverware will vanish swiftly.
