The Merseyside giants are preparing for an extremely busy summer of action in the transfer market as the club prepares to compete both at home and in Europe next season following their shock second-place finish in the Premier League.

And to that affect the Northern Irishman will have to sell a number of his first-team squad in order to help raise the necessary funds to put in place such a huge overhaul of players at Anfield, with two of those likely to depart being the Denmark and Brazil internationals.

Agger lost his place in the heart of the Reds’ back four towards the end of the campaign to new signing Mamadou Sakho, while Lucas returned to the starting lineup in April in place of the suspended Jordan Henderson, only to struggle at times to impose himself on proceedings.

Liverpool are said to be hopeful of getting at least £12m for Agger and Lucas.
