Argentine leaves the Nou Camp.
Gerardo Martino has confirmed he will leave Barcelona after failing to secure the La Liga title with his side failing to defeat Atletico Madrid in the crucial encounter between the two sides.
Martino has failed to secure any silverware in his debut campaign in charge of the Catalan club, the first time Barcelona have failed to win anything in a season since 2007/08, and is expected to be replaced by former midfielder Luis Enrique who has left Celta Vigo yesterday in readiness for the post.
The former Newell’s Old Boys boss took over at Barcelona last July and has won 40 of the 59 games he took charge of.
The BBC quotes the 51 year old stating;
“I am sorry that I was unable to deliver,”
“I would like to thank the club for putting their confidence in me.”
