The Italy international is understood to have already made up his mind to quit the Rossoneri when the transfer window reopens due to the racism that Balotelli has been consistently subjected to since moving back to Serie A from then Premier League champions Manchester City in January of last year.

Balo moved to San Siro in a deal worth 20m euros and while the 23-year-old has generally been a success on the pitch, the striker has now set his heart on a return to the Premier League for next season, with both the north London club and the Merseyside giants said to be lining up to land the player.

However, the Gunners’ first-choice attacking target is believed to be Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, who the club are currently in talks with to sign, while the Reds will turn their attentions to the controversial Azzurri star should striker Luis Suarez move to either Madrid or FC Barcelona.
