Manchester United are set to pull off an audacious swoop to replace recently arrived Juan Mata with experienced Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to the Daily Express.

Last week CaughtOffside broke the news that Spanish giants Barcelona were lining up a £40m move for United’s record signing and reports have suggested that the former Chelsea man could be the first victim of Louis Van Gaal’s regime.
And United could be set to make a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to replace him.
Earlier on in the season United had been heavily linked with a move for Schweinsteiger’s teammate Toni Kroos, but Bayern boss Pep Guardiola sought to hang onto the £20m rated attacking midfielder, forcing the Red Devils to reconsider their priorities.
And with Kroos unlikely to leave the Alianz Arena, United’s focus will shift to Schweinsteiger instead.
Moreover, United are in need of a more creative spark in midfield with Marouane Fellaini struggling to adapt to recreate the form he showed when he was at Everton.
