Croat has previously said he is happy at St Mary’s.
AS Roma will look to buy in-demand Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren if the Serie A giants see their own defender Mehdi Benatia leave the Italian capital for the Premier League this summer, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The Romans are said to be preparing for the likely departure of their highly rated central defender, with the likes of Premier League sides of the quality of Arsenal, champions Manchester City and Manchester United all understood to be interested in the player.
And if the Moroccan does leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer, then Roma head coach Rudi Garcia is set to make a move for the Saints centre back, who has just enjoyed an excellent campaign at the back for the south coast club.
Lovren, 24, moved to St Mary’s from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for just £8m last summer and managed to register two goals and one assist in total in his 31 Premier League outings for Southampton in the previous campaign.
However the defender, who has a contract at St Mary’s until 2017, is also believed to be interesting Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as well.
