Central defender was given his top-flight debut by Redknapp at West Ham United in 1996.
Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand is said to be interested in joining newly promoted Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers next season, with the player keen to work again with head coach Harry Redknapp, according to reports in the Guardian.
The one-time England international was recently told that the Red Devils would not be looking to offer him a new contract at Old Trafford for next season, with Ferdinand therefore set to be available on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer this summer.
And now it is understood that QPR boss Redknapp is keen to lure the 35-year-old south to the west London club following the Championship side’s dramatic 1-0 win over Derby County in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
“I’m feeling fit and healthy, ready for a new challenge, and looking forward to whatever the future holds for me,” said Ferdinand after recently leaving the Theatre of Dreams.
