Liverpool Make €20m Plus Player Bid To Sign Spain Star

Liverpool make ambitious bid to bring Spain defender to Anfield, but hope for quick deal before 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Liverpool have made a €20 million bid to sign Alberto Moreno from Sevilla, according to Spanish publication Marca, and hope to seal a deal before the 2014 FIFA World Cup – after which they fear his price could rise.

The Anfield outfit have struggled to fill the role of left back in recent years, with none of Jose Enrique, Mamadou Sakho or Daniel Agger convincing in that position last season.

Jon Flanagan proved himself perhaps the best option on the left side of the defence, but the 21 year-old’s future is likely to be at right back for both club and country, with England boasting Leighton Baines, Kieran Gibbs and Luke Shaw as options on the left in the short and long term.

A deal for Moreno could prove complicated, with Sevilla keen on bringing Reds starlet Suso to Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in exchange – either on loan or on a permanent basis.

Suso scored three goals and supplied seven assists in 33 appearances on loan at Almeria last term, and Sevilla were impressed by his performances in attacking midfield.

Marca report that Liverpool’s bid for the 21 year-old Moreno is likely to be accepted, and despite the player personally preferring a move to Real Madrid, a Merseyside switch seems far more likely.
