The Mirror today claims that AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli is available, with Arsenal especially interested – while the Express reckons that Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham could all compete with the North London giants for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Here’s a run down of why the four prospective Premier League buyers are interested, and what the Italian maverick could provide each of them.
Arsenal’s striking options are sparse. While Frenchman Olivier Giroud bagged a respectable 22 in all competitions last term, he often went missing in big games – and because of his lack of pace, he doesn’t provide a threat in behind either. Nicklas Bendtner is leaving the club on a free, and Yaya Sanogo hasn’t shown yet that he’s ready to spearhead the side. Balotelli would compete with Giroud for a central striker position, capable of producing more moments of genius than Arsenal’s 27-year-old.
