Anfield side look to bring in Allianz Arena youngster.
Check in to Switzerland vs Ecuador
Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri according to the Daily Star.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has already completed a £4m deal to sign Southampton forward Rickie Lambert as well as agreeing a £9.75m move for Bayer Leverkusen youngster Emre Can and the Northern Irishman looks set to further strengthen his Liverpool squad with the £15m capture of Swiss international Shaqiri.
Man United had shown an interest in the 22 year old but Shaqiri is looking to secure the Champions League action the Old Trafford side can not offer in 2014/15.
Shaqiri is rightly considered one of the hottest prospects in European football but his first team chance at the Allianz Arena have taken a blow under boss Pep Guardiola.
Having made a real impact in his first campaign, playing a part in Bayern Munich’s treble winning success in 2012/13, Shaqiri was no doubt looking to kick on last term but was handed just ten Bundesliga starts.
Rodgers is looking to bring in additions to boost his options in the final third and Shaqiri may well be seen as a third prong in an attack that could see the pint sized wide-man play alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
