Reds look like they’re closing in on a deal for Alberto Moreno…

Liverpool have all  but wrapped up a deal of €20m to bring Spanish international left-back Alberto Moreno to the club, reported Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo.

The 21-year-old is very highly rated following an excellent season in La Liga with Sevilla, and he’s the man Brendan Rodgers wants to fix his problem left-back position.

According to the story, Moreno will sign a five year contract at Anfield, and could be unveiled officially as a Liverpool player as early as Tuesday.

Last term in Spain, the left-back impressed everyone with his ability on the ball and his constant surging runs up and down the left flank. While he’s relatively small, his speed and tenacity makes up for what he lacks in physical strength at the moment.

His performances earned him his first caps for the brilliant Spanish national side too, but he narrowly missed out selection for Vicente del Bosque’s 23 man World Cup squad this summer.

For much of last season, Rodgers deployed Jon Flanagan at left-back, because of loanee Frenchman’s Aly Cissokho poor technical ability and Jose Enrique’s constant injuries. Flanagan is naturally a right-back though, and the Reds could now have a potentially world-class natural left-back to select in defence ahead of next term.
