United badly need midfield improvements this summer, and have been heavily linked to Bayern Munich’s German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger in recent days as well.
With Ryan Giggs retiring, and doubts over the suitability of Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini andeven Michael Carrick in the centre – midfield signings are new manager Louis van Gaal’s priority.
However, with most of the world’s best players currently in Brazil right now for the World Cup, it may not be until after the tournament that deals are officially concluded.
