Loftus Road side want former Old Trafford star.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp has set his sights on free agent Rio Ferdinand and will look to tempt the 35 year old into moving to the west London side by offering the centre-back an £80k a week deal according to the Guardian.
The former Man United man is thought to have a number of offers on the table including from Premier League sides Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham as well as an offer from an MLS outfit and as such will think long and hard before making his next move.
Man United opted against offering Ferdinand a new deal when his contract ended in the summer, bringing an end to his 12 season association with the Old Trafford side.
Though clearly a move for Ferdinand wouldn’t be a long term move Redknapp may feel that the addition of such an experienced head at the back could help QPR to retain their top tier status.
An £80k a week deal would make Ferdinand the club’s top-earner and Redknapp has already publicly stated his interest in bringing in his former West Ham charge;
“Rio is a very good player. I signed Rio at 14 [for West Ham]. He’s a fantastic player and a great pro. He’s probably been the best centre-back in Europe in the last few years. What a career he’s had at Manchester United. You need good lads who know the game. They can run the dressing room. It’s an easy game when you’ve got good players.”
