Rodgers is no doubt keen to strengthen his leaky defence and as such believes Croatian international Dejan Lovren is a quality player worth tracking, with the former Lyon man having an excellent first Premier League campaign.
Though Liverpool had no problems finding the back of the net in 2013/14, keeping a clean sheet proved a far trickier proposition, so much so that Tottenham were the only top eight side to concede more goals than the Anfield side.
Kolo Toure, Daniel Agger and Mamadou Sakho all failed to impress consistently enough alongside rock solid Slovakian Martin Skrtel and a similarly uncompromising customer, such as Lovren, may be the right way for Rodgers to go.
Southampton signed Lovren in an £8.5m last June after three solid seasons at Lyon and made 32 appearances in all competitions last term.
