New Manchester United manager is ready to spend £25m to sign Bayern Munich ace this summer.
Manchester United certainly appear to be braced for a spending spree this summer.
Reports in The Daily Star have revealed that the Red Devils’ new manager Louis van Gaal is ready to spend in the region of £25m to bring Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller to Old Trafford.
The 24 year old is believed to have become disillusioned with his stay at the Allianz Arena, after having started less-than-the-usual number of matches and having been played out of position by manager Pep Guardiola.
He was reported having asked for a dialogue with the club chiefs sometime ago, and his closeness with Van Gaal has raised the likelihood of their reunion in the near future.
“I have now come to the point where I insist to know that I am part of the starting 11 at Bayern Munich,” said Muller.
“I have also demanded to know if the club really want to go forward with me in the next few seasons.
“I am no longer the type who says, ‘OK then, today I will play in this role, next match in that role. Just move me about and I will keep my mouth shut’. No, those days are gone.”
However, the Dutch veteran will not be able to offer Muller UEFA Champions League football next season, which in turn may result in the deal hitting the buffers.
Fans may have to wait till the end of the World Cup before anything concrete is revealed about the player’s future.
