North Londoners Arsenal are set to submit a £5 million bid for Liverpool outcast Pepe Reina this summer, reports the Daily Express.
The move from the Gunners is very much expected as the Spanish international has long been on Wenger’s radar, and the fact that he is out of favour at Anfield, presents a great opportunity for Arsenal to replace Lukasz Fabianski.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool accept the offer from Arsenal, but one reckons that the Reds’ hierarchy could play hardball and look to get as much as possible from Reina’s sale. It will be interesting to see how far Wenger is willing to go for a backup goalie, but the North Londoners may well get the requisite quality if they go for the former Barcelona man, who has vast experience in the Premier League.
Reina has made 394 appearances for the Reds since joining them from Villarreal in 2005, and also has 32 Spanish international caps to his name.
