Old Trafford side target experienced attacker.
Having been linked with an interest in a host of Bayern Munich talents incoming Man United boss Louis van Gaal will now look to table an official bid for Dutch winger Arjen Robben.
CaughtOffside understands that van Gaal is keen to bring in alternative wide-attacking options with the likes of Ashley Young, Nani and Danny Welbeck all strongly linked with potential Old Trafford exits and will advise chief executive Ed Woodward to make an offer for the 30 year old Allianz Arena star.

Van Gaal may be confident of luring Robben away from Bayern Munich due to the fact he maintains a good relationship with the wide-man whom he signed for the German giants back in 2009.
Robben has enjoyed five hugely successful seasons at Bayern Munich, scoring 89 goals in 166 appearances and helping the club to three Bundesliga titles and a Champions League triumph in the process.
Louis van Gaal is set to make sweeping changes to the squad he inherited from David Moyes and a number of attackers could be offloaded as part of that shake-up and will look to Robben to help provide a strong threat in the final third.
Man United are ready to offer as much as £28m for Robben with van Gaal said to be in possession of a transfer war-chest in excess of £200m.
A move to capture Robben would be a real statement of intent from a club looking to repair their reputation after a disastrous campaign in 2013/14.
Robben could be tempted by a move back to the Premier League having enjoyed three successful seasons with Chelsea.
