Atletico eyeing new goalkeeper.Atletico Madrid could join the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the chase for Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa after his impressive performances in this summer’s World Cup, according to Fichajes.net.
The 28-year-old put in a man-of-the-match display for his country as they held host nation Brazil to a 0-0 draw, and has attracted plenty of interest from big clubs as he is a free agent in this transfer window after recently leaving French Ligue 2 side Ajaccio.
Ochoa has played in the top flight for his old club, and he has 60 caps for his national side to his name, and his performances in Brazil this summer suggest he is a player who should be turning out for a bigger team.
Atletico are the latest to show a strong interest in the keeper as they eye a new signing in that position for next season, as young loan star Thibaut Courtois seems set to return to parent club Chelsea after a three-year stint at the Vicente Calderon.
Diego Simeone’s side have also been linked with some other big names to fill the gap left by Courtois between the sticks, but the La Liga champions will certainly be tempted by Ochoa’s availability on a free transfer, and they will hope to fight off Premier League interest for his signature.
