Arsenal Finally Agree £35m Deal For FC Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez With Medical Imminent

It looks as if the Gunners will get their man.

After plenty of speculation Arsenal are finally set to sign FC Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez in a deal worth £35m, as reports highly respected BBC journalist David Ornstein.

The Chile international will become the Gunners’ first signing of the summer and signal their intent by becoming their second most expensive player ever behind record £42.4m signing Mesut Ozil.

Sanchez has grown frustrated at the Nou Camp due to a lack of game time since his 2011 transfer from Udinese and Barca’s imminent purchase of Luis Suarez from Liverpool makes the 25-year-old surplus to requirements.

Arsene Wenger has beaten off many challengers to sign the South American, with the Reds hoping to use the attacker as part of the Suarez deal, whilst Juventus wanted to tempt the Chilean back to Italy.

As it is the North Londoners have won the chase and will bring in Sanchez to support an attack that was accused of being one-dimensional and too heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud in 2013/14.

Wenger has admitted that he needed to strengthen his team in the final third and unlike 12 months ago is looking to do his business in the transfer market early.

A £10m deal for Newcastle United’s Mathieu Debuchy is also thought to be close, whilst a backup goalkeeper and a holding midfielder remain on the manager’s wishlist.
