The Blues also reportedly beat the likes of Arsenal and Lyon to his signature, both of whom were said to be taking a closer look at him too after being impressed by his lighting pace and brilliant dribbling abilities.
However, Quintero announced last week that he would be holding talks with Chelsea and he quickly followed that up by posting a picture on Twitter of himself signing a contract with the club on Friday evening.
The Ecuador-born winger is rated as the hottest prospect to come out of the country since Antonio Valencia.
Quintero had been making a name for himself in Barcelona’s youth sides and has also been capped at several youth levels for the Ecuadorian national side.
