Rodgers looking to keep Danish defensive rock.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that centre-back Daniel Agger remains in his plans for the forthcoming Premier League campaign despite his continued pursuit of Southampton’s Dejan Lovren, the Daily Star reports.

Agger has been linked with a move away from the club having endured a difficult campaign last season – making only 16 Premier League starts – with Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel the preferred centre-back pairing.
The 29-year-old also made it clear to the club that he would not be willing to play second fiddle at Anfield in the upcoming campaign.
However, despite Agger’s warning, Rodgers has continued to press ahead with an attempt to sign Croatian international defender Dejan Lovren for £20m.
And though the manager is keen to bring the Southampton stopper on board, he took the opportunity to express his desire to keep a hold of Agger before Wednesday night’s friendly against Brondby.
“Agger is one of the best players we have. He has been unlucky because he has been plagued by injuries last season,” Rodgers said.
“He is a good player, he is experienced and we can use that in the upcoming season.”
Rodgers praised Agger’s performance in the 2-1 defeat, aware that the player was previously linked with a move to Barcelona.
“Daniel has signed a contract with us [which expires in June 2016] and he showed in the first half, what an excellent player he is,” he added.
