Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has been involved in a controversial Twitter row with his former team-mate Yossi Benayoun, involving the current dispute involving Israel’s occupation of the Gaza strip.
In a response to a series of tweets condemning Israel’s actions, Benayoun tweeted the following response in defence of his country, for whom he has almost 100 international caps.
Barton, not known for being one to back out of a confrontation, continued his criticism of Israel with a multi-tweet response to the 34-year-old midfielder, who spent time with QPR last season and who has also played for Liverpool and Chelsea in the Premier League.
