Spanish champions set to move for Spurs target.
Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur target Antoine Griezmann, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
The French international was one of the star players in La Liga last season, scoring 20 goals from the flanks for Sociedad to draw comparisons with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, and attract interest from big clubs all around Europe.
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco have also been linked as potential suitors for the 23-year-old, who is reported as having a buy-out clause in his contract worth around £24m.
Atletico are the latest side to show an interest in Griezmann, with Diego Simeone keen to strengthen his side after their surprise title win last season, which has so far seen more players leave the club than join.
The departure of veteran forward David Villa leaves a gap in Simeone’s side for Griezmann to fill, while Turkish winger Arda Turan has also been linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon.
It would certainly be a major boost for Atletico to get their hands on such a top attacking player, with Barcelona and Real Madrid spending heavily this summer on new signings to wrestle the title back off their rivals.
