Red Devils hoping to secure targets with the help of lucrative exchange bids.
Manchester United are trying to secure the transfer of Thomas Vermaelen and Mats Hummels by offering Nani and Shinji Kagawa in return to Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund respectively, reports the Metro.
The Red Devils are desperate to address their defensive problems before the Premier League season starts in just over two weeks, and Hummels and Vermaelen are prime targets for them now.
United also know that the Gunners and Dortmund have been keen on Nani and Kagawa respectively, and thus are hoping that offering the two outcasts as part of the deal for the defensive duo could do the trick.
The North Londoners though have already signed a superior forward to the Portugal international in the form of Alexis Sanchez, and although Arsene Wenger is a fan of the winger, he may not want to sign him up now.
Dortmund might want their former star Kagawa back, but probably not at the cost of 2014 World Cup winner Mats Hummels.
Hence, despite the enterprising idea from United, there is still a fair way to go before the English giants can persuade the duo to sell to them.
