Red Devils and Juventus chasing Villa favourite.
Manchester United could face competition from Italian giants Juventus for the signing of in-demand Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar, according to Fichajes.com.
The Dutchman has impressed greatly with his performances at Villa Park and with the Netherlands national team at this summer’s World Cup, attracting plenty of interest from around Europe in this summer’s transfer window.
The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are also showing an interest in Vlaar as they eye new defensive signings ahead of the new season, but Juventus now look ready to throw their hat into the ring as new manager Massimiliano Allegri plans to make some changes to his backline.
Last summer’s signing Angelo Ogbonna does not seem to be in Allgri’s plans, meaning Vlaar has become one of several targets for the Turin club in central defence, along with former Manchester City man Stefan Savic, currently of fellow Serie A side Fiorentina.
Villa will be desperate to hold onto such an important player, having flirted with relegation for much of last season, though they may struggle to persuade the commanding centre-half to remain at Villa Park with so many of Europe’s big names seemingly after him this summer.
