Queens Park Rangers have announced the signing of young left-back Jack Robinson from Liverpool, but the 20 year-old will spend the duration of the 2014/15 season on loan at Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

Robinson, a product of the Liverpool academy, has made a handful of first team appearances for the Reds but has struggled to establish himself at Anfield despite loan spells in the second tier with the likes of Blackpool.

It had been expected that Harry Redknapp would bring him to Loftus Road as competition for first choice left back Armand Traore, so it comes as some surprise that Robinson has been sent to Championship strugglers Huddersfield Town for the duration of the season.

The Terriers are currently without a manager having dispensed with the services of Mark Robins after just one game, a 4-0 home defeat against AFC Bournemouth, but caretaker boss Mark Lillis has been allowed to bring in Robinson.

QPR have also started the season badly, with Premier League defeats against Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur coming before a disappointing 1-0 defeat against League Two side Burton Albion in the second round of the League Cup this week.

With manager Harry Redknapp known for his late moves in the transfer market, it is unlikely that Robinson will be Rangers’ final swoop of the summer.
