Arturo Vidal – Juventus
The Chilean midfielder is a player that United were interested in signing during the summer but the move never materialised, partly because of Juventus desire to keep hold of their man and partly because the Red Devils were worried about paying £40 million for a midfielder who has dodgy knees. Vidal has only just returned from knee surgery so Van Gaal probably thought spending £40m on him was a bit of a risk at the moment. Things might be different in January though as by then Vidal will have been able to prove his fitness.
