United enjoyed a big spending summer transfer window after the appointment of Van Gaal, but with no Champions League football, many suspected that they would have to curb their spending in January.

However, after announcing a massive record turnover of £433m on Wednesday, the club are planning on making moves for more big names – starting with summer target Vidal.

Reports close to the club are suggesting that the Red Devils are set to complete a deal to bring him to the club in the new year, and have even agreed terms with the player.

A fee has yet to be agreed between the two sides, though with money proving no issue for United it is believed that the deal will go through imminently.
