Van Gaal eyes up move for quality Juventus defender.
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has is believed to have identified Juventus stopper Angelo Ogbonna as the ideal man to help solve the club’s defensive woes in the January transfer market.
The Red Devils were lucky to escape with all three points against West Ham after Van Gaal was forced to blood some new faces at the back in the wake of the club’s serious injury concerns.
And CaughtOffside understands that the club will lodge a £10m offer for the 26-year-old after being impressed by his performances this season.
The centre-back joined up with the Serie A champions last summer, and played a role in their march to the title once again, though he is believed to be keen on being a first choice player and fears that he will not get that in Turin despite a good start to the campaign.
He has been linked with a move to England before, when Arsenal were looking at making a move for him whilst he was still at Torino.
With Chris Smalling set to join the Gunners in the new year, Van Gaal is drawing up a shortlist of new defenders to help steady the ship at the back, with Ogbonna at the top of his list.
