St Mary’s side want Old Trafford outcast Ashley Young.
Southampton are one of a host of sides said to be keen on signing Man United misfit Ashley Young according to the Daily Express.
The 29 year old has been deemed surplus to requirements by boss Louis van Gaal following the British transfer record acquisition of Angel di Maria and Saints boss Ronald Koeman hopes to lure the former Aston Villa man to the south-coast.
Young’s contract expires in the summer of 2016 though regardless of the long term deal in place Man United are unlikely to recoup more than half of the £17m they forked out for the England man in 2011.
Sunderland and Aston Villa are also said to be keen on Young, who has failed to deliver the goods since moving to Man United and has frequently been labeled a diver.
A move away from Man United may well signal a fresh challenge for the experienced attacker, who has racked up 11 goals in 87 appearances for the Old Trafford side.
