Youngster has all the makings of an Old Trafford hero, according to World Cup winner.
Manchester United forward Juan Mata believes that young defender Paddy McNair has all the ingredients to become a Manchester United legend after making an impression in his debut against West Ham United this weekend, the Daily Star reports.
The Northern Irishman was drafted into the side by Louis Van Gaal after being struck by an injury crisis amongst his defenders, and he impressed as the club battled to a 2-1 victory over the Hammers.
And speaking after the game, United forward Mata sang the youngsters praises.
“It was also unforgettable for Paddy McNair,” he said.
“Making a debut with Manchester United at Old Trafford being just 19 is amazing, and I am sure he will always remember this day.
“It’s good for the young players to see that they can fit in the first team. It has always happened in this club and it’s a good tradition to keep.
“In my opinion, Paddy has a bright future ahead.”
