Juan Roman Riquelme, the former Barcelona, Boca Juniors and Villarreal player, is to have a film made about his life.
Riquelme is one of the most decorated Argentine players of the last fifteen years. He’s won the Argentine Primera Division five times, the Copa Libertadores three times, and the Intercontinental Cup, the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Argentina once each.
It could be said the only thing missing from his career was a film about him. All that is about to change, however, with the release of ‘Roman x Roman’ – a documentary about his life and career, focussing mainly on his time with Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.
There will be archive footage, interviews with Riquelme, his managers, teammates, and rivals, and never-seen-before images from his private life. Advertised as ‘a must-see film for any fan of Boca Juniors’, it is sure to make captivating viewing.
Riquelme currently plays for Argentinos Juniors. They are sixth in Argentina’s Primera B division, one place outside the playoffs.
