The talented youngster, who has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool & Tottenham Hotspur, has been in fine form in the Premier League so far this season to catch the eye of some top clubs ahead of the January transfer window, plus earning a call-up to the senior England national team.

However, United and other clubs look like being disappointed in their attempts to sign Berahino, as he will instead make the decision to remain with the Baggies and continue his progress with the Midlands club for the time being.

Berahino’s new deal will see his weekly wages increased to around £40,000 per week, and should keep him at the club for another five years.

United are known to be in the market for new attacking players this January after spending plenty on new signings in the summer, with more changes to the squad expected under Louis van Gaal.

Berahino may have been lined up as a replacement for Robin van Persie, who has been linked with Fenerbahce.
