Reds scouts again checked out the progress of Patrick Roberts.
Liverpool are desperate to beat bitter Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of dazzling 17 year-old Fulham winger Patrick Roberts, report the Mirror, with Reds scouts again having traveled to check on Roberts’ progress during Fulham’s recent Championship exploits.
Roberts was an unused substitute at the weekend as Kit Symons’ side beat Huddersfield Town 3-1 to continue their fine run since he succeeded the unpopular Felix Magath in the Craven Cottage hotseat, but has been involved in recent weeks as Symons looks to gradually introduce the prodigious youngster to the rigours of first team action in the rough and tumble of the Football League.
The teenager has been on the radar of Premier League sides including Liverpool since his stunning displays for Fulham in the FA Youth Cup last season as they reached the final before narrowly being edged out by local rivals Chelsea, with the England youth international viewed as one of the most exciting young talents emerging in English football right now.
Fulham, however, are keen to keep hold of Roberts, with the youngster having two years left on his current deal, as they look to plot a path back to the Premier League after an ignominious relegation under Magath last season and will not be keen on allowing him to leave in January.
