Talented young Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has dismissed his agent Arturo Canales, reports Spanish publication El Correo.
The French centre-half has been consistently linked to a number of top European clubs this term, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City – but the rumours have irritated the 20-year-old, who’s been touted heavily for an international call-up.
Laporte signed a deal with Canales (who oversaw Man United’s Ander Herrera deal) only a month ago, but is furious that the agent has discussed his availability in the media.
The news will likely make United and Arsenal’s chances of securing his signature in January harder, as the situation indicates that Laporte is happy with the Basque club.
Arsenal desperately need a centre-back, as with Laurent Koscielny injured, they’ve been forced to play Nacho Monreal alongside Per Mertesacker. United’s central defensive problems are similarly well documented, with Marcos Rojo the latest in a long line of injury victims.
