Yokohama sacked coach Yasuhiro Higuchi on Saturday, and Japanese media revealing Gombau and Reds technical director Guillermo Amor are high on the club’s wish-list.

Gombau is contracted to Adelaide until the end of the 2016-17 season.

Adelaide chief executive Michael Petrillo admitted both were being noticed abroad, but says the club have not heard anything about the pair leaving.

Gombau’s agent Manuel Seisdedos told the Adelaide Advertiser he was unaware of any interest from the Japanese club.

“I’ve just got back from Asia and there’s definitely nothing there,” Seisdedos said.

“He’s Adelaide through and through. Any rumour is just that, speculation.”

Adelaide currently sit second on the A-League table, two points behind league leaders Perth Glory after six rounds.

Gombau and Amor certainly fit the criteria at Yokohama, given their time at coaching in the youth ranks at Spanish giants Barcelona.

Txiki Begiristain is the current football director at Yokohama and is a former Barcelona player.
