Could Argentine legend be set for Nou Camp departure?
Lionel Messi has dropped a hint that his future may lie away from the Nou Camp side he has represented since the age of 12 according to Goal.com.
The 27 year old is focused on the immediate future with Barcelona but has admitted his longer term future may be elsewhere.
Speaking ahead of Argentina’s clash with Portugal Messi stated;
“I’m just living the present,” Messi contined
“I’m thinking about having a great year at Barcelona and about winning the titles we want to win at Barcelona. Nothing more.
“After that, we’ll see. Football has a lot of twists and turns. I always said that I’d like to stay there forever, but things don’t always work out as you want them to.”
Messi has had a tough year with injuries and a tax fraud case blighting his efforts and his side lost their La Liga title to Atletico Madrid.
On the subject of the current campaign Messi believes that arrival of a new manager has led to Barcelona having to get used to a new regime.
“A new coach [Luis Enrique] came in with new ideas and that takes time. We have more than enough great players to achieve important things this year, so I’m relaxed. This is just starting – there’s a long way to go in La Liga and in the Champions League.”
Messi has made 437 appearances for Barcelona and netted a club record of 364 goals in the process and any exit from the Catalan outfit would shake the club to it’s core.
