Gombau has poured cold water over speculation of a move….mid-season, at least.

Adelaide United manager Josep Gombau says he will not leave the Reds mid-season despite reports linking him with a move to J-League club Yokohama F Marinos in recent weeks.

Following Adelaide’s 2-0 win over Central Coast on Sunday, Gombau played down speculation of a move to the Japanese giants.

“I am a professional and if I don’t see a contract, for me it means nothing,” Gombau said.

“I am happy here. I am a man who likes to start and finish a project and I am not a man who will leave the team in the middle of the season.

“I know the media puts rumours (out there), but I need to accept (it).

“The people who know me, the people in the club, the players are the most important. I want to be here and I want to work hard. I want to do what I am doing.”

Adelaide currently remain unbeaten in the A-League after seven rounds following their win over the Mariners away from home.
