Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers claims that although Mamadou Sakho has recovered from a thigh injury suffered in September against Middlesborough in the Capital One Cup, he is not match fit yet and is unlikely to feature against Leicester City, reports LiverpoolFC.

Rodgers revealed in his latest press conference that he French defender has returned to full training, but still needs more time to regain his match fitness.

He was seen training at the weekend with his teammates at Melwood, but is unlikely to be ready by Tuesday evening when the side play Leicester City in the Premier League.

The Merseyside manager also revealed that Mario Balotelli is still out injured, so it seems neither player will be involved against the Foxes.

“The squad will be pretty much the same. Sakho trained yesterday with the team for the first time, but won’t be match-ready yet. And Mario is still not fit,” he said.

Liverpool are currently 11th in the Premier League, with Glenn Johnson ensuring a vital three points against Stoke at the weekend.

Rodgers will be looking to kick on from here, and get some momentum going in the lead up to Christmas.
