Red Devils line up expensive triple swoop to make them a force in the Premier League again.

Manchester United are said to be eyeing up a double swoop for defensive duo Mats Hummels and Diego Godin during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

Borussia Dortmund defender Hummels is valued at £30m, whilst Atletico Madrid star Godin will cost slightly less at £28m as United prepare for another high spending transfer window.

The World Cup winner was yesterday tipped to force a move away from Dortmund in January as the club slumped to the bottom of the Bundesliga.

But as well as those two United have also been linked with moves for Raphael Varane, Fabian Schar, Ron Vlaar and Aleksandar Dragovic as they look to solve their defensive issues.

Meanwhile, free agent goalkeeper Victor Valdes could still be set to join United after his proposed move to Old Trafford appeared to collapse.

However, after returning to his homeland he returned to United’s Carrington training complex on Monday morning.
