Liverpool transfer target Timo Horn is set to sign a new deal at current club FC Koln, according to Daily Mail.

The 21 year old emerged as a target for Brendan Rodgers so the Reds boss could provide competition for current No.1 Simon Mignolet following a number of high profile mistakes by the Belgian this season.

However, it now appears the Germany u-21 shot-stopper will remain in Cologne and at the club he has been at since the age of nine where he has become the regular shot-stopper.

“I have said it more than once: I am in talks with FC Koln [about a new contract]. I want to sign on with my club,” said Horn.

Horn’s agent confirmed that the goalkeeper, who has yet to make his full international debut, had heard about the rumours of Liverpool’s interest, but no club had contacted him directly with an offer.

This latest set-back for under-fire boss Rodgers means he will have look elsewhere if he wishes to improve his goalkeeping options.

The Anfield side are said to be interested in European stars Loris Karius at Mainz and Norberto Neto of Fiorentina but have also looked closer to home with Premier League options Petr Cech and Asmir Begovic being considered for a January bid.
